Elwha Heritage Center Opening

The "soft" opening of the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center, for invited guests, occurs this Thursday, July 8th at 10 a.m. at the corner of First and Peabody Streets here in Port Angeles. We are thrilled to be a part of the project that has "repurposed" and regenerated one corner of this most prominent intersection. Festivities will continue on the 17th with a public celebration and ribbon cutting.  Thanks to the design and construction team and the project committee from the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe who hung in there through all the ups and downs of this complex project.

Linda's Wood-fired Kitchen and Motel

Talking about the "West End" cannot be complete until we mention Linda's Wood-fired Kitchen and Motel aka The Apocalypto Motel. This little oasis on the west coast tip of the lower 48 is where Linda and Greg Colfax, besides being the best fisherwoman and fisherman on the Sooes River in Neah Bay, have combined the extraordinary skills of the master chef and master carver. They will offer you the best wood-fired pizza and bakery items west of the Elwha while giving you some tips on hooking into that wild steelhead of your dreams. The well appointed "Apocalypto Motel" units upstairs put you right in the middle of the village commercial fishing activities and are a short walk to the village center, marina services buildings and Makah Days festivities on August 27 to 29.

Bogachiel Cutthroat

A really great day on the "West End" is getting a chance to do some business with one of our clients and still have time to stop off at great fishing spots like the Bogachiel River. Here's a nice cutthroat I took last Friday morning.
